Tasks
UX writing, voice chart, heuristics analysis
The voice and tone needed to support the business and user goals.
A therapy app must feel professional, but not cold, detailed and informative but not so technical that it alienates users.
Preference testing for tone
A voice chart and heuristics analysis to revise the content
Preference Testing Voice
A therapy app needs to discuss some deeply serious topics but without diminishing the therapy seeker’s hope. To help get the voice right, I used a preference test to compare two approaches.
Framed around the problem we're trying to solve.
Framed around the solution we're offering.
83% of participants chose option B, the screen that focused on the solution being offered.
I used that data to establish the tone for the rest of the application.
Voice Chart
Heuristics Analysis
Total score: 74%
Lowest scores come from:
Accessible - Reading level needs to be below 7th grade
Purposeful - What the person should or can do to meet their goals needs to be clear
Clear - Actions need to have unambiguous results
Voice - The tone feels neutral at best; no sense of hope or that it's here to help
